This is where I post random ideas that may or may not make sense to anyone outside of (or including) myself.

capitalism, socialism, and human nature: capitalism leaves open possibilities—’you may become a billionaire one day, if you put in the effort’. more importantly, it gives the illusions of control. how hard you work (a factor you control) theoretically determines you trajectory and your success. socialism looks too predetermined. [determinism]: we cannot have free will because desiring free will is imbued by some outside actor (emergence?), it is given to us as a prior to desire free will and therefore we are acting on that desire and not on free will itself
there is a pareto optimality between the complexity of a theory and its explanatory power. we want to find that optimality because we want a theory to be as explanatory as possible while being as simple as possible. would be interesting to find ‘good theories’ by compressing a normalised text file containing a theory and comparing the file sizes, explanatory power by surprisal/cross entropy loss
