we are afraid of becoming over-reliant on technology. we are afraid of losing the illusion of individual agency. //but what happens if some massive carrington event wipes out all of our electronics? if i survive a plane crash and am lost deep in the alaskan wilderness? have i become over-reliant on the internet to solve my problems?// aren’t we already over-reliant on our organs, they on their tissues, their cells, and the cells their mitochondria, nuclei, ribosomes…? the first simple single-celled organisms surely didn’t worry that subsuming each other would cause over-reliance on organelles. Life likes to consume, and life likes to create. we are heat engines, transforms.
